When: May 7th ,2011 (2:00 pm – 4:00 pm)

Yes, you can beat those weeds!  This class is organized into two parts. First, we will learn to identify many of the common weeds encountered in gardens and landscapes along the Front Range, using photographs and preserved specimens (talk about a Rogue’s Gallery…). Second, there will be a discussion on management strategies and practices. This will include both organic and non-organic approaches and materials.
Joel Reich was the most talked about teacher at our spring symposium.  He’s funny and he brings samples and visual aids.  Joel knows his stuff and he wants you to have the best garden you’ve ever had.  This class is not to be missed.

The Mile High Million Launches Trees for Energy Savings program

News - GreenPrintDenver.org - Fri, 04/29/2011 - 20:00

In an effort to reduce residential energy costs and provide job training for local Denver youth, the Mile High Million has teamed up with Mile High Youth Corps to plant trees in neighborhoods across Denver. Funded by a grant from the US Department of Energy, The Mile High Million’s Trees for Energy Savings program aims to help residents save money on energy bills by shading neighborhoods across Denver. With the assistance of our partners at the Mile High Youth Corps the program will provide and plant trees that strategically shade homes. The program also strives to spur economic growth by creating jobs and providing job skills to local youth.

In order to qualify for a free tree, property owners must have an available planting space in the front yard on the west side of the home or in the public right of way.

To learn more and register, visit The Mile High Million’s Trees for Energy Savings site.
